Dr. Maxine ChiChi Okafor was born in Dallas, Texas to a Nigerian single mother raising five children alone. At birth, she was left without a name, rejected and overlooked from the start. The nurse who assisted in her delivery gave her the name “Maxine,” meaning "The Greatest," while her mother gave her half of her name “Chinyere,” meaning “God’s gift.” Though she came into the world unnamed, heaven had already called her: The Greatest Gift God Gave. That tension between rejection and divine purpose marked the beginning of a journey that would become a testimony. Dr. Maxine ChiChi Okafor’s story is not one of ease, it’s one of evidence. Evidence that pain can become purpose, that survival can turn into strategy, and that the broken can rise whole.

Now a Doctor of Nursing Practice, dual-certified Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner, Mental Wellness Coach, entrepreneur, minister, author, international speaker, and IFBB Pro bodybuilder, Dr. Maxine ChiChi Okafor is a powerful force in the global movement for soul-level healing. She is the founder of The Perfect Prescription Medical Services PC, The School of the Spirit Institute, The Perfect Prescription Foundation, and 40 Days and 40 Nights Ministry.
She created Mental Wellness Coaching to unite the neuroscience of behavior change with faith, identity, and the renewal of the mind. Her work equips people to heal at the level of the soul, not just manage symptoms. Her global initiatives include The Mental Health Experience, which confronts stigma and redefines care in the United States and abroad. Refuge Nights, created for the broken and rejected, is expanding into Refuge City, a sanctuary for healing and restoration in Imo State, Nigeria. She has established mental health departments within churches, training leaders to respond to trauma with both clinical precision and spiritual authority.
Her childhood was shaped by deep trauma: abuse, anger, violence, and identity confusion. She grew up carrying the weight of silence and survival. By every natural standard, she wasn’t supposed to make it. But she did. Not just to escape it, but to become the kind of healer she once needed. College was her turning point, but destiny found her long before degrees. It came through the voice of God, who whispered a calling that would change her life forever: "I will use you to bridge the gap between mental health and faith."
That voice became her compass. She began her own process of healing, digging deep to uncover the root, the corrupted seed that had shaped her emotions, mindset, and behaviors. She didn’t just study trauma; she lived it, overcame it, and became her first patient. That inner work transformed her. Today, she doesn't just use a textbook. She uses her story, her pain, her process, and her redemption. That’s the foundation of her life’s work.

Dr. Okafor is also a fitness leader, guiding others to steward their bodies through movement, nutrition, and her supplement line, The Perfect Rx. She hosts the UNTOLD Podcast, where she creates space for the stories we’ve buried and the healing we’ve delayed. She mentors emerging leaders, builds scalable systems, and develops institutions that will carry the work forward for generations.
In her clinics, classrooms, and stages across the world, she has witnessed the miraculous. God has used her and she has witnessed deaf ears open, blind eyes restored, cancer healed, and mental disorders disappear under prophetic unction and spiritual authority. Yet just as profound are the moments when a patient understands their diagnosis for the first time, when shame is broken and language is restored. That too is healing. This is what it looks like when you merge mental health and faith.
